Great American Outdoors Act puts $2.8 billion toward park restoration
On Thursday, President Biden’s administration revealed the spending plan for the landmark conservation law approved in July 2020 with bipartisan support. A number of historic park structures across the country, such as the Ahwahnee Hotel at Yosemite National Park, will have funding dedicated to their restoration. Maintaining rivers, geysers, forests, and wildlife refuges will also receive top priority.
“One of the best investments we can make is in stewarding the lands and waters that sustain us and the generations to come,″ Interior Secretary Deb Haaland stated. “Today we are making critical investments that will create tens of thousands of jobs, safeguard the environment and help ensure that national parks and public lands are ready to meet the challenges of climate change and increased visitation.″
